Garima weds Amit

Okay so Garima bua got married to Amit uncle. Amit uncle is a Pediatrician. And that's good for me and all my friends.
November was a hectic month because of the wedding. I took full week off and went to stay with bua. There was too much of work to be done. I got my lehnga done from Farrukhabad which is famous for all this Lehnga work. There was tonnes of other work too and I was just too busy.
A few days before the wedding date, relatives started coming in and I had a great time playing with all my cousins. The engagement happened on Nov 25th. The couple exchanged rings and there were some other ceremonies. We had Mehandi in the evening.
Finally, the d-day arrived on 26th November.  Amit uncle came with the baraat and there was so much dance and music. The wedding function was superb and everything went off pretty well.
I was a bit sad because I won't get to meet bua as often as I used to. She will go to a different house too. But i'm also happy for her. Many congratulations to both of them and here's wishing them a great life.
Btw, I know, I'm quite late in posting this. Its already past Christmas. Like last year, I got my report card from Santa and some amazing gifts. While most of the comments in the report card are good, I know I need to improve on a few parameters. We'll see.
My holidays are on and I'm planning to go to Nani's place next week. Hope you are having a great time too. Happy New Year.

Happy Diwali 2011

Happy Diwali everyone. I've not updated this for a while now as i've been very busy. First I went to Nani-ji's place for Dussehra holidays. As usual it was lot of fun playing with Bulbul.

I took part in this drawing competition organized as part of Durga Puja celebrations and got a 3rd prize.

Then it was Diwali. I loved the crackers - this was the first time I actually burst them on my own instead of just watching someone else do it. All of us went to dadiji's house and had a good time.

Namrata bua's wedding happened yesterday. And now Garima Bua's wedding date too is getting closer. Good for them but who will I hang around with now when I go to dadiji's place? Anyways, all of us are very busy preparing for the wedding. I got my lehnga stitched from Farrukhabad.

Oh, and by the way, we got our mid term report card too. I think I did reasonably good.

Summer Vacations - 2011

As always, the the best part of the year was my summer vacations -  full 50 days of non stop fun. Even before the vacations started, I had decided I wanted to go to London, Chennai, Bangalore, Paschim Vihar and Fatehgarh. The last two are obvious as they are my grandparents'  places and Bangalore is where I was born. But I have no idea why I wanted to go to London and Chennai. Perhaps I heard those names from some friends and liked them.

And so it started. I made sure that I was at Paschim Vihar at my dadiji's place on the very first day of chutti. I could do whatever I wanted to do - such as watching tv non stop or playing with dadiji. To top it all, I was even treated to 1 or maybe 2 ice-creams a day. This made me feel my grandma is really rich because my parents never let me have ice-creams that frequently. I did some holidays homework too when time permitted. Maa had passed on some of the holidays homework responsibility to bua. I always wonder - why do they give homework for holidays?

After spending a few days there, we went to Fatehgarh (which is were my Nani's as well as my Maa's Nani live). I love spending time with my cousin sister bulbul. She's Rinku mama's daughter. I loved the way she copied me and snuggled with me. She's the only one I can boss around with. During the train journey, I got to use maa's phone as a music player and absolutely loved it. I also got hooked on to a Justin Beiber's song (courtesy govind mama). I also met Megha at Kunti nani's place - we played from morning till evening when my legs would give up.

All this while, papa had been busy traveling to the US. I was eagerly waiting to see him (after all, he'd taken a long shopping list from me). Finally we were back in Delhi and I loved all the stuff he'd got for me. More than anything else, I love playing with Talking Tom on his iPad.

After 3 days in Delhi, we went to Shirdi. I and ma went along with Gautam chachu and Kartik chachu. They taught me some interesting things including the famous song "Khaike Paan Banara wala" and some bits of punjabi. It was a complete different experience for me and as usual i made friends and had fun following them. Gautam chachu and kartik chachu took great care of me.We also went to water park on the last day in Shirdi. The train journey back to delhi was fun too as I got to spend some more time with my new friends. Papa came to pick us up and we were back to noida. The last few days before chutti were spent in finishing off the remaining holidays homework.

Its back to school now but I'm already looking forward to next few weeks. Next week end, i'm going with Papa to Banaras. This is the same place that appears in that song I learnt. This is also the place where papa went to school.

Happy Mothers Day

Happy Mothers Day Ma.

New session in class I had been going on pretty eventless but that changed last week.
I was given an award for Star Performer for my all round performance in KG. They gave this award in a big award ceremony.

Papa was very happy. He said he's never ever won any prize like this. As always, thanks to Ma. She always prepared me for all those activities.

Other than that, its been pretty boring. Now that i'm in a big class, there's a huge change in school. They have started giving a lot of homework and assignments. They also evaluate as regularly. We had a PTM yesterday and my maam explained these changes to all the parents. She also explained how parents can help handle all this "pressure".  Papa's very upset as he thinks this is too much for 5 year olds.  But I think that's because more than my workload, it increases his workload :).

Other than school, i'm loving my music classes. The other day, music sir was teaching us Sa-re-ga-ma. Papa said sir was singing like one of those who sing in running trains but we all know how good papa's music sense is!

Here's my new summer hair cut. Much more convenient than the long hair I had earlier.

I'm looking forward to my summer vacations. As always i'm sure they'd be hectic and fun. Okay gotta go, time for swimming..

KG results and Happy Holi 2011

Yippee - KG is over and I will go to class I after holidays!

I got my report card last week. I got a golden star in every single category. And this in spite of papa's best efforts to spoil me. All credit obviously goes to Ma.

Anyways, i'm happy i'll go to a big class now. But till then, I'm spending my holidays at dadiji's house. We had Holi yesterday and it was great fun. I've now started enjoying water and colors (especially when used on others).

Saru Massi's Wedding

Congratulations to Saru Maasi and Anil uncle on their wedding.

It was a rocking week full of festivities. Mehandi, relatives, a week's holiday, good food, song and dance. What else can one ask for?
We had been preparing for this day for long. Maa got me a lovely lehnga (of course she got for her as well).
BTW, i've also picked up the language that everyone at nani's house speaks. Its a dialect of Hindi only, just slightly different. Makes it easy for me to converse with people :)

Prizes and Gifts

It's been a good start to the year for me.

I won a Gold Medal in this republic day race organized in our apartments. I'd won a bronze medal in the Independence day race. Good progress between Independence day and Republic day :).

And then I was selected to represent my school in an Inter-school story enactment competition. It was a tough one but we got the second prize. Maa had really worked hard to ensure that i get the expressions right.

Finally it was my 5th B'day. Bua got me many gifts. We all went out with all my friends, their moms and Papa. Papa said he'd never gone out with so many women before :). We had a blast at the party.

Goodbye 2010, Hello 2011

Winter holidays started with Christmas. I love Christmas because of obvious reasons. So I went with maa to GIP to show her what I wanted. And then when I woke up the next morning, Santa had left that exact same toy on my bed! Along with the toy, Santa also gave me a report card this time. I got number of stars but there were a few areas where i need to improve. Hopefully, I'll get good stars for those points the next time around.

After Christmas, I went on a holiday trip with dadaji, dadiji, bua, maa and
papa. We flew to Guwahati and then hired a car to travel around different places. The driver, Bishal was very knowledgeable about local places. I and bua would settle in the last row and i would usually sleep while traveling from one place to another.

First we went to Atanu uncle's place in Guwahati where I made two new friends - Anwesha and Anushka. I had a good time there with both - we even exchanged our rings. Hopefully, i'll see them again.

We then drove to Shillong. It is an amazingly beautiful place with large number of Churches and water falls. We also went to Cherrapunji - its the place that records highest rainfall in the world. We also went to this cave place and I loved it.

After spending two days in Shillong, we drove to Kaziranga. It was a long drive from shillong and we reached kaziranga in the evening. I of course slept during most of the journey. We stayed at this resort with Assamese style huts in the middle of a tea garden. The first evening was spent relaxing and enjoying Assamese food. The sun sets early but the night sky was very clear - something you would never find in Delhi. We spent the evening enjoying Assamese food and staring at the clear sky by the bon fire.

Next morning, we woke up early for elephant safari. I actually woke up without much effort - i wonder why that doesn't happen when i wake up for school. The elephant is a majestic animal and so were the numerous rhinos we saw. My elephant's name was mamoni. I've been to elephant safaris before too and i always wonder why the ride is always so smooth. Even though the forest has huge bumps, the elephant always manages it very well. And my papa can't even ride smoothly on Delhi roads that has only minor bumps as compared to those in the forest. The elephant probably has natural shock absorbers that a car doesn't. Or papa needs to learn how to drive.

We then had a good breakfast and went off for another safari, this time in an open jeep. I loved the trip but there were not too many rhinos out there. We did manage to see many new aquatic birds as well as tortoises lazing around and sun bathing.

This was my third visit to a forest reserve. I've been too Bandipur and Corbett before. But somehow, I've never been able to see a Tiger. I was hoping i'd be able to see it this time but was disappointed yet again. I've started thinking that all those stories of tigers are imaginary.

The highlight of the day was the Assamese folk dance Bihu in the evening. Some local artistes from neighboring villages performed the dance.
Bihu is a very different experience especially if you are a Delhi/Bhangra types and makes you wonder at the amazing cultural diversity in India. We also bought lots of tea from the tea gardens here.

Next morning, we started our trip back to Guwahati. While in Guwahati, I and papa decided to stay back in the hotel and unwind. While everyone else went out to shop, I stayed with papa, watched a Harry Potter movie, slept and did general Aish.

Finally, as with all other good trips, this too ended today and we flew back to Delhi.
Here's wishing everyone a happy and prosperous New Year

My first overseas vacation

What a vacation it was! Lets start at the very beginning. I and Maa went off to Nani's place near Kanpur. As always, it was fun meetin...
