KG Annual Day 2010

It was exciting! I was a co-narrator of our class' annual day show. It was based on famous Vikram and Baital stories and the story that we were showcasing was about Dagdu. Dagdu was a lazy bum (even lazier than papa) and would spend all his time sleeping and dreaming. However, his dreams would always come true when he woke up. It was a funny and interesting story. Maa had been working on me for a long time to prepare me and I think I did quite well. She made me practice really well and I actually enjoyed my practice sessions. Papa was especially happy - he said I did much better than what he used to do when he was my age. But i personally don't think that's any good because from what grandma tells me, papa was really bad.

Btw, i have started enjoying Delhi's street food. As you can see, i love golgappas.

We are going to North East for our winter holidays. I am especially looking forward to Kaziranga and hopefully riding some Rhinos :)

Happy Diwali and Children's Day

Its been a hectic couple of months and i suspect it'll remain like that for next few months as well. There were these common wealth games in Delhi, Saru Massi's engagement, Dussehra (pics) and then Diwali that kept me really busy.
On one of the weekends, we just went around Delhi to see how prepared we are for the games. We had lunch at Andhra Bhawan and then while moms went around CP doing their Shopping, I, Munchi and Ashish went to see India Gate. It looked cool. We also wanted to give some practice to our dads on how to handle rowdy kids.

Saaru Massi got engaged on Oct 10, 2010. I really loved putting Mehandi on my hands and meeting everyone. I am now eagerly looking forward to the wedding in February.

Immediately after that, papa went off on a trip. Before going, he taught me how to video chat with him using Skype but unfortunately because of time difference, we could never actually chat while he was away. Maybe next time...

It was time to celebrate victory of truth over evil and play with some bows and arrows. Like last year, i didn't get a chance to see Ram lila this time but I saw some of it on TV. We also went to see Ravana's effigies being burnt but there was just too much rush there. When we came back, our apartment folks were trying to erect their own effigy. It was hilarious because they had no clue what they were doing. In any case, it was a nice experience.

Finally, it was time for Diwali. As usual, I went to dadiji's house. Good food, lights, fireworks, festivities, gifts... what else would a little girl want?

That's it for now. I have to go. Its Children's day today. Madhu Aunty was the first one to wish me in the morning and then Juhi aunty gave me chocolates. Happy Children's day everyone.

My first medal

Okay, i've won a couple of prizes last month. First, i got a prize in a painting competition and then a bronze medal in a race. Both these events were conducted on the occasion of our Independence day. So it was indeed a happy one for me. You can see from the photographs that i prepared really hard for the race :)

And did i tell you I can already beat papa and maa in Tennis as well as Bowling? Sometimes, I can do a strike even without looking at the pins? I think i've figured out the Wii.

Then there was this fun Janmashtmi festival. We went to a function with Shruti and there were some beautiful tableau of Lord Krishna and his ways.

Summer Vacations 2010 - Trips to Bangalore, Haridwar and Agra

What a vacation it was!

A hectic, but extremely enjoyable summer vacation has come to an end. In the beginning, i went and stayed at dadiji's and naniji's place. As usual, it was fun because i'd go to Chaddha uncle's shop everyday. I now have an amazing collection of pencils and other small stationery items, all thanks to Chaddha uncle.

After that, we went to Bangalore. After we moved back from Bangalore in 2008, I and Maa had not been there. There were so many people we wanted to meet and so it was quite an experience seeing all those people after a long time. We also saw the house where I was born. I didn't remember too much because I was quite small when we moved from Bangalore but i think i recognized quite a few people.

After coming back from Bangalore, we went for a short trip to Haridwar. Initially, i was very hesitant to get into the Ganges river but once I got in, it was a lot of fun. We came back and then went to Farrukhabad for Atul mama's marriage.

As soon as we came back, Nikhil and Vedant, with their parents came to visit us in Delhi. I just loved that week even though half the time, they could not understand my hindi and I could not understand their english. We went to Agra and saw the famous Taj Mahal. Papa thinks the most amazing thing he's seen yet. On our way back, we also went to Mathura, the place famous for Lord Krishna.

In between, there was Mother's day and i sang a song in a cultural programme organized in our apartments that ma and dadiji helped me prepare.

Finally, the vacation ended and I still have not even started my holidays homework. I've never understood one thing - how can they give us homework and call it a holiday? In any case, Maa is working to finish my homework this weekend. I'm sure i'll be fine.

Flying and Skiing in Manali

What an amazing holiday but we'll come to that a bit later!

My Nursery session got over last week and I'm no longer one of the junior most kids in the school. I will go to KG from next week and will now boss around with the new nursery kids. But i'll be a good helpful senior :).
My teachers (Audrey Ma'am and Rachna Ma'am) have been very proud of my performance. I'll miss them as well as Radha didi. I've improved in all the areas but to tell you the truth, the credit goes to Maa. She really worked hard on me and in spite of papa, managed to make me learn many things.

After a hectic year in school, we got a 2 week vacation. So we (maa, Garima bua, Saru maasi, Namrata bua and I) decided to go for an all-girls vacation to Manali. Papa was traveling to the US and was not supposed to come. As luck would have it, his trip got canceled and he too joined us. So, off we went - a gang consisting of 1 man and 5 women! :).

After a long bus journey, we reached Manali and just chilled out on day 1. We went and sat on the rocks near the river Beas and then went to the monastery.

adventure started the next day when we went to a place called Golaba (Snow Point). I had never seen snow before and was really excited about it. But what I experienced once we reached that place was beyond any expectations. We trekked on snow, made lovely snow men and enjoyed skiing. I loved my snow boots and skiing dress.

After this, we went to Solang Valley. The experience of flying can not be described! Everyone else was a bit scared but I had absolutely no fears. The only thing i didn't like was the fact that i got to fly only once!

Happy Holi 2010

Happy Holi everyone. Can't imagine it's already been a year since this!
Well, it was pretty much like last time - lots of color, fun and good food. All of us got together, bought different kinds of water cannons and balloons. You know what - most things including color, balloons and water cannons these days are imported from China! But the quality is so bad that all the water cannons that we got conked-off even before Holi started. My ma'am had explained to us in the class how to play Holi safely and decently. But it looks like when they were teaching these things to papa, he was absent.

My 4th Birthday..

... was great. I think this was the first time when I enjoyed being a b'day girl so much. Like last time, this time also it lasted for 3 days. And I got to wear my favorite dress (Lehnga) for all 3 days. Even though my papa thinks i don't look great in Lehnga, I think that's the best dress ever invented. On 6th (saturday), I celebrated it with papa, maa and bua. The phone calls started in the early morning and everyone wished me. I would shamelessly tell everyone what i wanted for the b'day gift. On 7th (Sunday), I invited all my friends to McDonalds and it was great fun. Maa really worked hard (with Bua's help) to arrange everything for the party - from menu to decorations to return gifts, she handled everything effortlessly. I was obviously the center of attraction. We had a big "Dora" cake and then everyone danced. Finally on 8th (Monday), I celebrated it in my school.

We went to the famous Suraj Kund festival. It's an amazing place with so much to do and see. There were some real good talent shows.

Oh, btw, before i forget, today's Valentine's day. So happy Valentine's to everyone. Have a great day. We also watched the much hyped up movie MNIK. I didn't understand the movie too much (no songs!) but i still loved it because it had SRK.

My first overseas vacation

What a vacation it was! Lets start at the very beginning. I and Maa went off to Nani's place near Kanpur. As always, it was fun meetin...
